A PLACE WITH THE LOT

By Kathryn Junor

With focus on geological formations, Kathryn Junor’s oil paintings are not simply a translation of places in-situ, they are also drawn from her lived and imaginary experiences of the place.

This show features her three favourite geological elements in abundance; rugged cliffs, bushland and water.
Influenced by the cubist movement and the way they reduced their subjects to geometric forms, Kathryn’s colour palletes are arrived by saturating hints of colours found in nature.

By combining these two approaches in tandem with a strong graphic quality and use of pattern, her artworks straddle abstraction and representational approaches to painting.
