my paintings are created over months of adding layers of paint, texture, subject matter and meaning. This painting is from my last exhibition just prior to the lock down of 2020.

When I lived in the city I used to frequent a coffee shop that looked out on a terrace crammed between towering buildings. This tiny terrace was filled with pot plants and caged birds. I would frequently catch a glimpse of the occupant carefully tending her caged and potted treasures.
