Description

Kookaburra – Dacelo novaguineae
The correct name for this bird is in fact the Laughing Kookaburra, most easily identified by its call and so well characterised in the song  ‘Kookaburra sits in the Old Gum Tree’
The wings of the Laughing Kookaburra have a small hint of blue as opposed to the Blue-winged Kookaburra, with its vivid blue wings.

This original artwork was created on a wire frame, covered with a mix of fabric scraps, with plant fibres for the tail feathers.
