BACKYARD DIVERSITY ON THE SURF COAST

lino prints by Ursula Shepherd

Inspired by our local Surf Coast flora and fauna, Ursula’s enriched daily observations are both the inspiration and subject of this new exhibition series.

Ursula predominantly uses fine cuts in her lino plates to form an intricate picture of her environment. She uses motion in her cuts to show movement in some static poses of local flora and fauna.

Some of her printed work is left intentionally as a monochrome, to emphasise bold and strong lines. While others are hand painted in subtle watercolour, designed to soften and enhance the birds and flowers, which reproduces the identifiable qualities of intrinsic beauty of the subjects.
