URBAN SKETCHING

abstracted line illustrations by Pamela Reid

A walker and en plein air artist, I carry a sketch pad wherever I wander.
In my neighbourhood surrounds of Port Phillip, Melbourne, I’ve observed the juxtaposition between the old and new where charming buildings are sometimes squashed into a backdrop of high-rise constructions. Seeming quirky and appealing, I abstract my lines to capture these architectural and social history changes.
When I’m traveling too, I like to work freely to depict the essence, the lure, the energy.

I am a multi-disciplinary artist. Whether painting landscapes in oils, or life drawing, always my work is about responding to that moment, the light, the form, movement.
My fifth solo exhibition at Eagles Nest Gallery, “Urban Sketching” is another chapter in my art life here and recently in Europe.
