The Wine-Dark Sea

I’ve always loved stories, especially mythology Homer described the ocean as ‘the wine-dark sea’ because it appeared so dark and stormy, but with hints of colour.
This painting was inspired by his phrase in the ‘Odyssey’ and ‘Iliad’ stories and was also very much inspired by my first sighting of Split Point lighthouse.
